About ANZA

Established in 1994, The Australian and New Zealand Association of Beijng is a non-profit group aiming to provide a support network for Australians, New Zealanders and all other international expats living in Beijing. Throughout the year, members and their friends are able meet each other socially, and to share information and experiences about life in Beijing, as well as have fun in true Aussie and Kiwi style.

Each year, ANZA hosts a Melbourne Cup lunch and in 2006 the first Great Wall Dinner was introduce which was a huge success and since then has become a regular date in the ANZA Beijing yearly calendar. Each month an informal morning tea is held for members and newcomers.  The morning teas may be themed around a praticualr part of the year, for example Australia Day, Waitangi Day, St Patrick’s Day, Easter, Mother’s Day, Christmas which have proven to be  a lot of fun.  On ocassion a guided tour may be offered to our members, and newcomers are also welcome. ANZA welcomes suggestions for further events – opportunities exist for members to share ideas and make the most of their time in Beijing.

As a community contribution, ANZA may nominate a particular charity/ies each year to donate a major portion of our annual profit to, or the committee will alocate funds to a charity or cause on a needs basis.

ANZA Membership is open to all foreign passport holders for a nominal annual fee of RMB100 per family. Representation on the ANZA Committee, however, is only open to Australians and New Zealanders.

ANZA is run on a voluntary basis. Membership fees and ticket sales contribute to the running of events and profits are largely donated to charity/ies with the remainder reinvested into the Association for future events.
